Monet’s Garden, Nicky Richards outstanding chaser is to have a racecourse gallop as part of his preparations for the King George V1 Chase at Kempton on Boxing Day.

The eight year-old grey won on his seasonal reappearance at Carlisle last month and his trainer has already stated he is unlikely to have another race before Kempton so his Ayr workout will play a significant part in the build up to next month’s contest.

Ayr Clerk of the Course Katherine Self said : “Nicky contacted me over the weekend to ask permission to give Monet’s Garden a racecourse gallop after racing and I was happy to say yes to his request.

“It’s a real bonus for those attending on Wednesday as its not everyday you can watch seven decent races and then see a top chaser having a gallop.”
The going at the track remains soft and yesterday the course was raceable, although showers are forecast.

Feature race on Wednesday is the Dawn Construction Steeple Chase, a Class 2 Limited Handicap, with £30,000 in prizemoney.
