Haydock Park is Blooming Marvellous
04/08/08

haydock parkHaydock Park, the premier Flat and Jump racecourse in the UK has won a Certificate of Merit at the Belfast International Rose Trials. In 2005 the racecourse developed, in conjunction with award winning rose growers Fryers Nurseries, a red rose specially named ‘Haydock Park’, to coincide with the Rose of Lancaster Stakes held in August at the racecourse.

The large, gloriously rich ruby red flowers, classically formed in the style of a hybrid tea, but produced so freely and effortlessly, with the blistering performance of a floribunda is in a class of its own … reminiscent prose for the talented Brian Meehan trained ‘Cat Junior’ aiming for glory in the Group 3 toteswinger Rose of Lancaster next Saturday?

Dickon White, Managing Director of Haydock Park said, “We’re thrilled that the ‘Haydock Park’ rose should have won this award. The team works very hard here and it’s great to see one of our creative ideas being endorsed by a non-racing event. It makes it all worthwhile and we very much look forward to showing off the unsurpassable specimen at the Rose of Lancaster Stakes meeting 7th-9th August.”
