Work Watchers Left Drooling After Latest Frankel Gallop There is a small group of professional racing insiders who every morning get up at the crack of dawn to watch the thousands of horses based in and around Newmarket go through their paces on a variety of different gallops. On Wednesday morning Sir Henry Cecil's superstar Frankel did a piece of work that left even seasoned observers looking for superlatives to reflect the training run they had just seen, writes Elliot Slater.
Unbeaten in all seven career starts including at Group 1 level on three of his last four outings, in last season's Dewhurst Stakes, the Qipco 2000 Guineas at the end of April, and the St James's Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot last month, Frankel is being prepared to take on older horses for the first time when he races in the eagerly anticipated Qipco Sussex Stakes at Glorious Goodwood on July 27. Those looking at the Glorious Goodwood betting odds will be very excited by the prospect of the race. |
