Dortmund Park wins for Elliott and Kennedy in a race with more drama

Debuchet fell two out in the €100,000 event and put the Willie Mullins' pair Getabird and Scarpeta out of the race. It left the contest at Dortmund Park's mercy and he ran out a 10-length winner.
 
"He was a very good winner and I suppose it was compensation for Samcro in the last race, but we just move on. This guy has done it very well. I was left in front a long way out, with the fallers at the second last, but he dug deep and did it well. I heard a little bit of roaring behind me but I was concentrating on going forward! " said winning jockey Jack Kennedy.
 
Referring to Samcro, he added: "I was travelling well at the time, happy enough, but it was just one of those things. He actually jumped the hurdle great but just slipped at the back of it, but he's none the worse for it anyway and that's the main thing."
 
Trainer Gordon Elliott added: "We've had a rough couple of days, but we've had four winners and if you'd told me a couple of years ago that we'd be winning two Grade Ones and a Land Rover Bumper at Punchestown I'd never have believed it. So much is expected now but I've had a great season and you have got to keep your head up and keep smiling.
 
"Dortmund Park had won very well at Thurles and was bought to be a good horse. I am delighted for Jack to get a winner as he has had an up and down week too. This horse will definitely go chasing next season."
 
Eddie O'Leary of owners Gigginstown Stud added: "Dortmund Park won very well in Thurles and went to Cheltenham with half a chance and he's come back here a fresh horse. He had a little wind-op and we'll give him a bigger one now.  Like most of ours, we tend to get big, slow chasers and he looks to be, hopefully, another big, slow chaser."
