Barton
Hall Stables are ideally situated in the centre of the country making
access to most racecourses both easy and economical. John and Mary
Mackie have been based at Barton for the past 20 years having spent
a small spell in Malton. John rode as an Amateur jockey before moving
on to be Ian Balding's assistant trainer at Kingsclere.
After
studying agriculture, Tim learnt his trade in racing as an assistant
to the late W.R Simpson, J.W.Watts and M.W. Easterby; also learning
from D.W. Chapman, when riding for him as an amateur. Tim rode
thirty point-to-point winners and fourteen winners under rules,
both on the flat and jumping. After training numerous point-to-point
and hunter chase winners, he took out a licence to train jumpers
in 2001 and is slowly improving quality and quantity.
Hall
Farm Racing is now proud to be able to offer Full National Hunt
and Flat race training facilities set in the heart of the Leicestershire
Countryside. Facilities include a purpose built block of stables,
a 6 furlong all-weather gallop and grass gallops, various schooling
fences and starting stalls, all set within its own 400 acre pasture
and arable farm, allowing plenty of room for turnout paddocks.
Carl Llewellyn took
over as trainer from Mark Pitman at Weathercock House in Lambourn
immediately after the 2006 John Smith's Grand National, having combined
the roles of assistant trainer to Pitman and jockey since August,
2005. [stable visit]
Simon is a first generation
trainer, often considered to be the most forward thinking of workaholics,
he still finds time to keep his clients informed and entertained.
He trains from the Clear Height Stables which was built by the late
Ron Smyth.
Toby has held a licence since September,
1956, during which time he has trained nearly two thousand winners
both Flat and National Hunt and is presently numerically the fifth
leading National Hunt Trainer of all time and still going strong!
Since taking out his professional
racehorse trainer's licence in 1975, Martin Pipe CBE has taken traditional
and orthodox training methods and techniques and turned them upside
down. In doing so he has also taken the record books and turned
them into confetti.
Eric Alston is a successful
racehorse trainer based in near Preston, Lancashire in the UK. Eric
is enjoying another good season and due to beat last year's best ever
total of 31 winners.
Ferdy Murphy Racing
is based at Wynbury Stables in West Witton, North Yorkshire, England.
There are now more than 100 horses under the care Ferdy and his staff.
A New Barn to accommodate the increase in horses and a new office
have recently been added to the Wynbury facilities. In addition to
this, Ferdy has recently taken over the yard at Worlingworth Hall
in Suffolk.
Chris Thornton
has a lifetime's experience of working with Thoroughbred Racehorses
and admits he's been "racing mad" since his childhood. After
the death of Sam Hall in 1977, Chris became the Master of Spigot Lodge,
near to Middleham in North Yorkshire and began training in his own
right. Since then, he has sent out almost 600 winners of all types
of race, both Flat racing and National Hunt racing.
Mark Johnston Racing
has an impressive range of facilities all within each reach of the
yard. This is certainly a factor which contributes to the success
of Mark Johnston Racing. Middleham has extensive grass gallops on
both the Low and High Moors which are situated a short ride away above
the village of Middleham.
