Hide The Evidence Star of Curtailed Fairyhouse Card
04/12/06

Jessica Harrington's Hide the Evidence received a 10-1 quote from William Hill for the Anglo Irish Bank Supreme Novices’ Hurdle at Cheltenham following the gelding’s impressive six-length victory in the Bar-One Royal Bond Novice Hurdle at Fairyhouse yesterday afternoon (3 Dec).

In the process of today's victory, the five-year-old dented the reputation of Edward O'Grady’s highly regarded Clopf, who was sent off the 8-11 favourite for the Grade 1 contest.

Clopf, who had won both of his starts over hurdles this season, was pushed out to 12-1 from 6-1 by Hills for the 2007 Supreme Novice Hurdle at Prestbury Park.

Tony Kenny, William Hill's, Irish spokesman commented: “It was an excellent performance by Hide The Evidence at Fairyhouse today, but I wouldn’t lose faith in Clopf just yet.

“The winner clearly liked the testing conditions, and on better ground I wouldn't bet against Clopf reversing the form with Jessica Harrington’s charge.”

**Following the abandonment of the Fairyhouse card after the second race, racecourse officials confirmed that the remainder of the meeting will be run on Wednesday with one or two of the races divided to make a six or seven-race card.
