Miss Scotland to Make Draw for Ayr Gold Cup

THE draw for this year’s totesport.com Ayr Gold Cup will be made at the course on Thursday 20th September by Miss Scotland Neive Jennings and racehorse trainer Linda Perratt.

Declarations for the race will be known at 10.00 am this morning and the draw will be made at 11.15 am in the Trackside Marquee and shown live on Racing UK with many owners and trainers in attendance.

Miss Scotland is no stranger to the course having presented prizes at a recent race day.

There will be a maximum field of 28 runners in Saturday’s £121,000 Ayr Gold Cup with the next 28 in the weights taking their places in the Silver Cup on Friday.

The three day totesport Ayr Gold Cup Festival meeting gets under way today (Thursday) with the first race at 2.20 pm. Huge fields are expected over the three days with more than 90 entries today and 106 tomorrow (Thursday).

Ayr Clerk of the Course Katherine Self last night reported the going as good to soft, good in places and added : “We had 2.3mm rain overnight on Tuesday into Wednesday and the forecast is for the odd shower amounting to no more to 1mm.

“A more blustery picture for Thursday and then a brighter day on Friday, although again the odd shower forecast.”

Record crowds are expected to attend the three days with advance sales at an all time high.
