TANYA'S BLOG - 5th MAY 2010

So the circus has halted at Chester and sadly for those coming to enjoy the Roodee today the sun as yet has not put his hat on. There is a chill in the breeze and according to a very sweet young lady wearing a Chester Racecourse fleece the Danish Pastries, Muffins, biscuits and coffees will arrive in the press room in 20 mins.

Most of those who occupy the press room are at Michael Owen’s Manor House Stables for an open morning and we have also learned that Manchester United will be having their annual day trip to Chester.

The Chester Cup is incredibly open with the exchanges offering 9-1 co-favourites Mamlook, Halla San and Swingkeel, with Red Cadeaux close behind. The little smatterings of change for La Vecchia Scoula caught the attention especially after the success of Hawkeyethenoo on Sunday for Jim Goldie. Pricewise’s Desert Sea won’t be far away either but my selection would have to be Mamlook after his efforts over hurdles and the fact I was on Peter Deal’s quiz team for the Moorcroft Quiz night.

Hearty support has come for Hamish McGonagall in the 3.15, no surprise after recent efforts. Yet from stall 2 I like Look Busy who holds herself well in Group and Listed company when needs be.
