Captain's Blog - 18th June 2010

A nice 15/2 winner here yesterday as Croeso Cusan took the last at Warwick. It was a much needed winner and gets us back on track for an assault on the weekend action. I will not be getting too heavily involved today, but tomorrow will be more of a punting day as we are going for a picnic on the heath at Ascot and will be having a few bets.

Today for me is a day of chores. It being Friday I will be heading to Tesco after finishing here and will then be making my way to the gym for a bit of a workout and a swim. I have always considered swimming to be something of an emergency measure in life but it can be pleasurable as long as the pool is relatively empty. Of course I may be unlucky and the larger ladies from the local area may be engaging in some Aqua aerobics and if that is the case my swim will definitely be an emergency measure. The swimming pool is not the place to be when ten tonnes of fun come to town!

There is some more excellent action at Royal Ascot today. The King Edward V11 Stakes interests me simply because I have been waiting for Monterosso to reappear after his recent win at Newmarket. The speed figure he produced there was exceptional and suggested that he was worth stepping up in class. He is in deeper today, but all he has to do is run as fast as he did at Newmarket to oblige again and I will be backing him each way in a race that is not that strong. He has the added bonus of Frankie Dettori in the saddle. He will probably be my only bet today, but I think he has an excellent chance.

Time for me to put together a shopping list and then to head to the dreaded Tesco’s. Have a good day and enjoy your Racing.
