Tanya's Blog - 16th June 2010

May I introduce to you Maxime Guyon – France’s new superstar jockey, winner of their 2,000 Guineas and Derby, he hopes to claim Wednesday’s big prize aboard Byword. Last time we saw Byword was when he was second in the Prix D’Ispahan in Longchamp to none other than Goldikova. In the markets Pricewise, Glass Harmonium has been latched on to, no surprise after his effort with Junior yesterday. For a massive each-way selection I must go for Stimulation, he ran a blinder in the Lockinge Stakes behind Paco Boy after a long lay off and could sneak a place.

Windsor Forest Stakes and the dilemma for Alan Munro is how to get Pyrrha to the near side rail. She can certainly lead and she needs to dominate. Chris Wall her trainer, is a favourite of mine and he has trained a few winners of late.

The Royal Hunt Cup will be as competitive as ever and the gamble won’t materialise until closer to post time, at present it’s Tryst that’s being supported but understandably he is Pricewise. I will be putting Dandy Boy, Tiger Reigns and Mull Of Killough in combinations as they are all suited to races of this nature.

This is the day David Probert comes of age and rides his first Royal Ascot winner. Gay Kellaway has given him a golden chance by giving him the leg up on Primo Lady. A horse with lightning pace and a blinding draw, which young Master Probert has to make full use. He won a listed race on her at York and this year Royal Ascot has proved a pace setters course, with the stand-side rail showing a massive advantage. Primo Lady has to be the pick in the Queen Mary.

Richard Hannon and Richard Hughes had a day to remember yesterday and the success could continue to flow with Pollenator in the last at Royal Ascot today. Supposedly disadvantaged by the draw in the 1000 Guineas she then tried ten furlongs but didn’t show the sparkle she had done over a mile. Back to her ideal trip in the Sandringham Handicap she could regain the sparkle.
