Captain's Blog - 10th July 2010

We spent six hours yesterday with paint brush in hand and by the end of it had transformed the living room and Dining room from rather tired looking spaces into something a little bit fresher and brighter. I had also managed to transform my blue shorts into white speckled ones. All in all it was a project well done and I really enjoyed a couple of pints of Peroni in my local when the whole thing was done. I did not manage to watch any racing though because the TV had to be moved and unplugged, but if I had done it would have made for frustrating viewing. Equiano was second for us here on the blog at 16/1 rewarding each way support and was only beaten a neck. Likewise our other selection, Palace Moon finished second at 9/1 and yes you guessed was beaten by a neck. We made a profit but it could have been so much better.

On to today's fare which centres on York and the John Smiths Cup. This is a race that Richard Fahey has farmed over the years and indeed you can back him at 9/2 to win it today. I respect his chances but have been a fan of Imposing ever since he won here at York on his first start this season. Since then he has been second at Royal Ascot where with a little more luck in the run he would have won. I know he is only around 4/1 in a competitve race but I think he is a Group horse in a handicap and he is well berthed in stall 7.

There is plenty of Racing to go at today and we will be very busy on Racing UK today. We will be covering all the action from York Chester Nottingham Salisbury and Hamilton. That should keep me busy in the booth today. it is not only the booth for me though as I will be presenting Mark Your Card at 12.30 for which Dave Nevison will be my guest. We will also be joined by Simon Goodley for some chat about the World Cup final.

I do not feel very motivated at the moment as I watch some Aussie Rugby League with my feet up but I need to get a move on and get to Teddington to prepare for Mark Your Card. I will therefore bid you farewell for another week.

Enjoy the weather.
