Captain's Blog - 21st July 2010

I am late on parade today after a late night in the booth on Racing UK, better late than never as they say and after getting up at 8.00am rather than the usual 7.00am I am feeling quite fresh. That feeling is sure to subside later when I hit the Gym. As soon as I finish here I am going to head off and get some serious exercise done. It is a few days since I did anything and I need to get a little more disciplined about doing some regular exercise. I have always found the Gym to be quite an intimidating place with lots of bench heads around drinking their protein drinks and pushing ridiculous weights. I am going to ignore the lot of them and find a running machine tucked away in a corner somewhere and will put my music on and bang out 10km, no protein, no posing just me a treadmill, a few tunes and some single minded determination. Once I have completed my task I will head to the changing room where no doubt some of the older members of the gym will be chatting away after having swum a couple of lengths. I will not be able to hear what they are saying though because there is always some poser who thinks it is cool to stand in front of the mirror and dry themselves off with a hairdryer rather than use the towel that they have with them. I try to spend as little time as possible in there, but with a bit of luck I can get a locker in a part of the room where nobody else is changing. I am going to stop ranting on about it now as I am psyching myself out.

There have been murmurings amongst those who know a lot more than I do that Sir Michael Stoute may not win the King George because his horses are not running that well. I really hope these doubts and chineses whispers continue because if they do Harbinger will become a bigger price and so will Workforce as well and quite honestly I cannot see any other horse winning the race. If Sir Michael does not have these two horses spot on for the day I will be absolutely amazed. He may not be banging in the winners at the moment, but I am confident he will when it really matters.

Enough for today. No joy for us yesterday, but keep the faith folks.
