Tanya's Blog - 9th August 2010 After his Newbury win, there I was thinking Regal Parade would go straight to Haydock for the Betfred Sprint Cup on September 4, not so, he had the strength and tenacity to go to Deauville yesterday and win the Prix Maurice De Gheest, a second Group 1 to add to his CV and now all roads lead to Haydock. Zoffany burst the Strong Suit bubble at the Curragh in the Phoenix Stakes, which is well overdue being named the Ballydoyle Stakes seeing as Aidan O’Brien has won the contest 11 times in the last 13 years. Fame And Glory is back too, with the combination of Aidan O’Brien and Johnny Murtagh now on fire. Harbinger’s injury is a devastating blow and the fact we are unlikely to ever see him again on a racecourse is very sad. Commiserations to his connections. A tidal wave of news for racing which caused not even a ripple outside the bubble racing cowers in, especially now the football season has started. I went into a betting shop on Saturday at 1pm becoming the only person in there, that’s hardly going to boost the levy and I didn’t bet on horseracing! Last week I rested from the blog to play catch up after Goodwood and regain composure for Newbury this weekend and the impending York Ebor Meeting. Today there is not much to get excited about but as a springboard to tipping more winners Screenprint may have every chance of being a winner in Wolverhampton’s 3.45, I am a bit worried about Greek Islands but even with Antioco Murgia’s claim I don’t think it will be enough to beat Screenprint. Thirsk is live on Racing UK this evening and it’s certainly worth watching, thoughts go out to Tony Hamilton because he’d have been riding but for the serious injuries sustained at Ayr on Saturday. After his win with Prohibit in the Shergar Cup, my one selection at Thirsk would be High Spice for the same trainer Robert Cowell.
TANYA’S POINTERS The partnership of trainer Geoff Harker and jockey Silvestre De Sousa have had six winners from their last 11 runners Henry Cecil’s last nine runners have produced four winners and a second and a third Aidan O’Brien and Johnny Murtagh have teamed up for five winners from their last nine runners Tom McLaughlin has had six winners from his last 17 rides
