Tanya's Blog - 18th August 2010

A glorious sunny morning let’s hope the weather is set fair for the remainder of the day. As I drove to the course this morning I can reporting a sighting of William Knight’s horsebox in the BP garage filling up with petrol, which indicates Illustrious Blue has made his way over 250 miles from Sussex for the Lonsdale Cup.

Illustrious Blue hasn’t got home advantage today and it looks feasible that Electrolyser could gain swift revenge for his Goodwood Cup defeat.

The first race today is wide open and the betting as yet have given us no help 7-1 co-favourites, Satwa Moon, Chilly Filly and Life And Soul, all of whom ran well last time out. I am going for Satwa Moon on his run at Goodwood on his penultimate start.

It is hard to forget the competent and ‘job done’ style Temple Meads won the Weatherbys Super Sprint. He looked something special, yet the race itself has yet to get the form boost Temple Meads needs. He is favourite for today’s Gimcrack a lofty title considering there are plenty of talented individuals lining up against him over a furlong further. Approve hasn’t convinced me, but we have to remember connections won this with Conquest. Bold call but I’m going for Move In Time who up until Monday still had an entry in the Nunthorpe on Friday. At Newbury he was running on late and the leading pair had already got loose. This furlong further may bring him into the race.

Ebor time and by now the betting ring will be buzzing, Overturn has been something of a phenomenon winning five of his last six races and slowly inching his way into our hearts. He had grabbed favouritism from Martyr for the Ebor as soon as the draw was known on Monday. However you decide to have your bet on in this race, you must have a saver to regain your stake on Overturn.

The Irish have an almighty challenge, with Salute Him, Ascot Stakes second Elyaadi and my selection Dirar, who was third to Overturn at Galway recently. Nanton is sure to give young Paul Norton a thrill as he was extremely unlucky in the race twelve months ago but I’m sticking with Dirar.

Face The Problem should be a formality forcing bookmakers to head home to refill their satchels as he will be a very popular favourite and by then I would have left the course but may be worth having a second look at Admire The View in the last.
