Captain's Blog - 30th November 2010 I feared it would happen and in the last race at Wolverhampton it went exactly to my predicted script producing exactly the result I did not want. All moving parts was the horse and it was a fairly strong selection for me following a very good second place last time out. That second place would have been a win if the horse had not been sent for home a long way out. Thus the tactics yesterday were surely straight forward, get there late having conserved energy in the early part of the race. Racehorses produce their best when they are ridden patiently and do not see daylight until late on in the race and that would have done nicely for All Moving Parts. Unfortunately the script was torn up as soon as the stalls opened as the horse was sent to the front in attempt to make all the running, as a consequence he ran freely and fell apart in the home straight. I did not do any damage though as I was worried about the tactical scenario around this horse and my worries were well founded. I will not give up on All Moving parts there is money to be made out of this guy when held up over a mile on polytrack, but with the tactics that have been employed with him so far he is one for backing or laying strictly in running! We may get a decent price next time as well because those that like horses racing in a high gear close to the pace will no doubt think he had every chance yesterday, that is clearly nonsense but such an interpretation may well afford us a better price next time! I am watching the snow come down and I am afraid that the action on this week is going to be thin on the ground. We will be at Kempton on Wednesday evening though and I am looking forward to presenting all of the action from the Studio. Today we will be bringing you some French racing from Deauville. A nine race card will keep us busy through the day and of course you will be able to listen to the Gallic wisdom of Mr Charlet which is well worth tuning in for. I am heading off top the Gym shortly. I managed to go yesterday and am firmly back on the horse now. I plan to do some work on the treadmill and will be timing my run from off the pace, you get nothing in this world for using up all of your energy at the wrong end of the exercise! Stay warm out there!
