Captain's Blog - 9th December 2010 I am a little late on parade this morning. I was in fact up fairly early this morning but have been busy doing absolutely nothing other than having a go at target golf on the Wii! I know I am over 40 now and I should not be trying to beat Tiger Woods at target golf at any time of the day and trying to do so in slippers and pyjamas with a cup of coffee in one hand and a remote control in the other is not really a dynamic way to start the day but it was fun and sometimes life should be all about having fun. You will be pleased to know that I am fully dressed now and the Wii remote is being charged ready for another game, possibly a bit of tennis next time! Our only selection yesterday was a non runner which was probably a good result. I will still be interested in Even Bolder when he next runs, preferably at Lingfield and hopefully next time he does appear he will challenge late and fast down the outside of the track. The last two times he has been narrowly beaten there, he has run his heart out but has been foiled by the deeper inner part of the track. Kieron Fox has been riding him and has possibly not been helped by the horse's propensity to hang left down onto the inside, but I am sure he will be anxious to challenge wide next time. Shane Warne is one of my sporting heroes and I would like him to retain that mantle and that means never returning to the Australian cricket team. He was the best spin bowler the world has ever seen and stepping back into the fray can only have a detrimental effect on his legacy. The passage of time and his lack of first class cricket means that he will never be the Shane Warne that we saw a few years ago. Sure he is a class act and will be able to take a wicket or two, but he would surely be a shadow of his former self and nobody wants to watch a below par Warne struggling for form. We want to remember him at his imperious best. Remember him bowling a confused Gatting across his pads, what a ball that was and there were plenty more where that came from, but to quote the great Richie Benaud today if Warne was to come back he ‘would be off his head’ Today’s Selection at 10/1 is a bit of a monkey, but I am taking a chance that he will be held up by Shane Kelly, if so he will go very close. He is a strong traveller who needs cover and needs to be delivered late, which makes it pretty baffling that they have made the runningwith him the last twice he has been seen. I will certainly be hovering over the back button in running if he is dropped out. 10/1 is a fair shout and he has already been backed today. Good luck! will bring you action from Kempton today. It will be a studio based show and we would welcome your e-mails to [email protected] . Time for me to head out to pick up some Christmas presents. All the best.
Today's Selection 3:20 Wolverhampton – All Moving Parts (each way 10/1 Sportingbet)
