Captain's Blog - 12th January 2011 Australia are batting first against England in the opening T20 of the series. I really enjoy this form of the game and am settled down with tea and toast to enjoy the action. Test cricket is something I enjoy as well but this version is good for those of us who do not have five days spare to watch a Test. Australia are going well at the moment, but it is the middle overs when pace is taken off the ball that are crucial and we have two good bowlers for that period of the game in Yardy and Swan. On The blog selection yesterday was an each way poke at 4/1. I know it is very risk averse to be betting each way at 4/1 but things did not look to bad 100 yards from the line as our selection hit the front, unfortunately we were headed right on the wire to lose by a short head. Not too much damage done but it was infuriating to get caught close home. I am not too proud to admit I need to find a winner or two at the moment, but I am sure we will hit a purple patch sooner or later - it is just a case of swinging the bat until you connect again. It is the old story of it being a game of confidence which I am low on at the moment but one winner will change all that. We are going to venture out with our new daughter today for the first time. She is five days old today and a quick spin round the block in her new wheels is on the agenda. Above all we need to get some fresh air and it will do her good as well. It will be a bit of a project today but in a few weeks time will come naturally and we will not give it a second thought. I am looking forward to it.
will be bringing you some twilight action from Kempton today. We will be based in the studio and please send your e-mails in to [email protected]. The card itself is a run of the mill one but I am interested in Guildenstern in the last. This horse ran well at Wolverhampton last time and is trained by Jane Chapple–Hyam who has done really well with the horses she has inherited from Paul Howling and it is that angle that makes me think she can get more out of Guildenstern. A draw in stall 2 is not ideal, but this horse is a hold up performer and as such can be dropped in and ridden patiently. He has an excellent chance and at 100/30 with Have a good day and take it easy out there.
Today’s Selection 7:15 Kempton - Guildenstern ( 100/30 Betfred and Sky Bet )
