Tanya's Blog - 2nd February 2011 An inspection at Leicester and my fingers are tightly crossed it goes ahead as MANELE BAY returns to the track at 4.00. She is a massive price at 33-1 now she has had enough time to recover from her exploits at Ascot. The two races she had at the track came in too quick succession as her run in October caused her to incur a gash and the latest run she never ever got into contention. BARBATOS has been heavily supported for the Leicester’s 2.00, at the time of writing now into 11-4 on the exchanges, the fifth behind Bobs Worth at Cheltenham now reads very, very well after Saturday’s results. MUSIC OF THE MOOR really impressed me when he ploughed through the mud and hauled himself up the Sandown hill in early January and now he receives ten pounds from Storm Brig. I’m hoping he is fully recovered from that run as it looked energy sapping, but he did look a big strong sort, he runs in Newcastle’s 2.20. FOURJACKS has been second on all three of his career starts but he deserves a change of fortune and on his latest start at Doncaster he did make the race for Knockalongi. He should be ridden with more restraint today or alternatively kick for home much earlier and run the finish out of the remainder. I’ve been steadily getting up to speed on the golf again, the last few tournaments have been totally absorbing and a win by Bubba Watson is always good value. He has no bigger swing than his mood, yet I think victory last week would have banished some really cruel gremlins. This week at TPC Scottsdale Arizona it’s the Phoenix Open where at times it can get raucous, so you need a player who showboats. There could be some value with Anthony Kim who is beginning to seem himself again and when he flows he will win by a fair margin. Pat Perez has a fiery temper and a tendency to fire low scores a three figure price is too good to miss each-way top 5 or ten. Then as a saver Phil Mickelson for his third win at the course. The countdown to Sunday’s Superbowl has begun but in reality the two teams do nothing for me. It will go down as a year of ‘what might have been’ for so many teams and the two we are left with Green Bay and Pittsburgh a very forgettable forecast. Having said that, the final itself could develop into a classic, but with a Australia v England One Day International also being on our screens I know which event will capture my attention.
POINTERS Donald McCain jnr is back in tip top form with four winners, three seconds and a third from his last ten runners and Wymott runs at the weekend!!!
Kevin Ryan has had four winners and two thirds from his last eight runners
AP McCoy has had six winners, a second and a third from his last 15 rides, he also has a high strike rate at Leicester with eight winners from his last 22 rides at the course
Racing Post signposts flags up Victor Dartnall has had five winners from his last 15 runners the indicator is always worth checking and today it is page 18
