Tanya's Blog - 19th February 2011

I can only apologise, what a miserable day’s tipping yesterday, any consolation to you I lost a packet, so hopefully that will sharpen me up for today’s action, which appears to be tremendous. No novelty they are backing the Pricewise selections Lough Derg 3.35 Ascot, Silver By Nature and Carruthers in the 3.20 at Haydock. The rain has relented to drizzle at Ascot as I type at 10am, but the ground has softened. Alastair Down and Lee Motteshead are busily typing away in the press room alongside. It’s a fair trek from the Channel 4 trucks to the Ascot press room, any further I’d have needed oxygen, I’m not as fit as I thought I was!

Back to the racing and the horses that have been backed which do stand out are Drill Sergeant 3.35 Ascot and Major Malarky 3.20 Haydock, they are the ones not influenced by outside interference of tipping lines.

My tip of the day is ROYAL TUNE in Ascot’s 2.25, he treated his rivals with contempt at Ffos Las, no short journey back to France. Yes I did notice Burren Legend in the line up and I will be having a sentimental forecast with Royal Tune but I would have preferred him to turn up next week at Kempton in the Racing Post Chase.

There is opposition to Pride Of Dulcote in the Betfair Ascot Chase, and I agree his win over Punchestowns has turned out not that great. Riverside Theatre has shortened by default but I could probably oppose him to as I like BIG FELLA THANKS. Yes Ferdy Murphy is owed one by Ascot as Kalahari King had to perform more miracles than Houdini to keep going behind Master Minded last time. Ignoring his last run, his first this season behind Hey Big Spender now reads well as that horse came out and did the business recently.

As for Haydock I’m hoping LOCAL HERO, ANY GIVEN DAY and MOBAASHER all oblige as the first one I’ve backed for the Triumph, the second for the World Hurdle and the latter large for today. I thought his run at Cheltenham behind Grands Crus was a good prep for today’s exploits.
