Captain's Blog - 7th March 2011

Kasban was a 7/1 winner for us here on the blog on Saturday which made it a decent week after the 5/1 win of Pelmanism at Kempton on Wednesday. I am hoping to keep up the good work this week and am certainly feeling more confident now than at any time in 2011 so far. That may sound a bit goofy but as I have stated many times before this game is all about confidence.

I am looking forward to interviewing Ruby Walsh today and you will be able to see that interview on this afternoon. Ruby as you know is my idea of the best National Hunt jockey in the business and his thoughts on the lead up to Cheltenham will be very interesting. You can email the studio and I will read out as many of them that time will allow. I know that Ruby is flying over from his home in Ireland especially for the interview and we are grateful to him for that.

I was going to have a detailed look at the Champion Hurdle on the blog today, but I have not been able to crunch the all important speed figures yet so will be reporting back on that particular project later in the week. I know that some of you may well not believe in speed figures particulary as far as jump racing is concerned but I am convinced they have a significant role to play even in jump racing and in all honesty they serve to de-mistify form that collateral study only seves to cloud even more. More of that later in the week with a look at the Champion Hurdle.

I am going to sign off now so that I can have as much time as possible to prepare for my interview with Ruby. Do tune in later this afternoon to hear from the maestro.

All the best for a bright start to the week.
