Tanya's Blog - 11th March 2011

Genius, that’s Mark Winstanley. Julian Muscat went to listen in on his pearls of wisdom at the Towcester Racecourse Cheltenham Festival Preview, they sounded fabulous. I’m lucky enough to be one of the audience for Plumpton’s version with the great man on the panel. Sadly it has the ‘Sold Out’ sign on the door but next year if you are in the vicinity remember to book early. If there are any nuggets to pass on I will put it in the blog tomorrow.

The seating plan will no doubt put me near Richard and Yvonne Rowe and hopefully we will all have something to celebrate with a big run from Manele Bay today. We have Watergate to be cheerful about for starters. How on earth that started 5-2 I will never ever know, but I’m not complaining! He got me out of the jam set by Eyre Square.

On to Manele Bay, she has an outside chance of at least a place. She ran well enough at the same course last time but she may need three miles to show her best form, then again she may not. Andrew Thornton is sure to ride her with a little bit more restraint this time without being too far behind. I have backed her each way but that is more of a just in case bet than anything.

The only selection today is Jim Goldie’s LAMPION DU BOST. A course and distance winner at Ayr last time, there should be a repetition forthcoming at 5:05.

POINTERS

Richard Lee has had four winners from his last eight runners

Martin Keighley has had four winners and two thirds from his last ten runners

Evan Williams has had four winners and two seconds from his last eight runners, but his last two have pulled up

Tom George has had four winners, a second and two thirds from his last 11 runners

You must always check out Signposts of the Racing Post and today their best stat is Pauline Robson’s Ayr record as she has had eight winners from her 19 runners

Henry Brooke who was in the pointers yesterday continues in good form with four winners from his last seven rides
