Another great week for sport, Champions League football, Masters Golf and of course the Grand National at Aintree. Tonight Real Madrid v Tottenham, has already caused much discussion in our office with Spurs supporters aplenty on various desks, or should I say Gareth Bale fans. Those orange football boots will at least be on the pitch, what good they’ll do is another matter. The general consensus was a 2-0 victory for Real which mortified the Spurs supporters as a few have White Hart Lane tickets for leg two, which will be worthless if there is such a score line!!

As for the Masters, the right-handed maestro who is ambidextrous, and better known for his left-handed play Phil Mickelson is worrying the bookmakers. I haven’t made my choice for a Augusta wager yet, but first thoughts go with Rickie Fowler and Dustin Johnson, it is a course where you need more patience than a saint so much studying is needed.

Aintree starts on Thursday and I can wait, the better half is boxing walking already as Notus De La Tour is due to run in the last race on Thursday and watch out to for Pocket Aces who has an entry at Fontwell on Friday. TURKO already looks a good thing in the Foxhunters on Thursday, while I’d want to be on FRANKIE FIGG in the Topham on Friday.

Exeter today has an excellent card, plenty of runners and so many horses that I fancy. LUNDY SKY was so impressive on his last visit to Exeter that is hard to see him overhauled today, yet you have to respect RIF’s form behind Mossley at Cheltenham last time we saw him on the course, so maybe it would be better to lay HANDY ANDY. I’ll also be having a small forecast on Handy Andy and Rif at 2:30.

RACING DEMON has a virtual flawless record at Exeter and I can’t believe he is such a big price, surely an each-way must at anything bigger than 6-1. DRYBROOK BEDOUIN needs to be ridden more positively and be competitive from the start, there is no use him conceding valuable ground early as he hasn’t got the finishing kick to outrun anything. He’s normally a 12-1 shot and a value each-way. BLACKSTAFF would be my final Exeter selection at 4.30.

Pontefract and Paul Hanagan riding for John Quinn paid dividends on Saturday at Doncaster with Bonfire Knight, there could be more of the same in the 2.10 with NORTHERN FLYER. Then in the 4.10 Michael Dods TIGER REIGNS appeals.
