Tanya's Blog - 11th April 2011

An eventful weekend resulting in racing taking up column inches in all the papers for all the wrong reasons. My hopes and prayers are with Peter Toole who took a horrific fall on the Mildmay course, he’s ridden plenty of winners for all of us who follow my blog, here’s hoping for a speedy recovery so he can ride plenty more.

How about the Masters? Poor Rory McIlroy, exhaustion, mixed in with adrenalin added with a whole heap of nerves led to the implosion on the final round. Many before him have suffered and he won’t be the last, but what he has to do now is wash his mouth of the whole affair and come back with a vengeance. My selections were simply not good enough and, in his own way, Rickie Fowler collapsed, and even Jason Day was running on empty towards the end. All three are our future and in years to come the footage will be played out as a remember when. All three have many majors in them, this weekend was just invaluable experience to show them how much young shoulders are weighted down.

Lot’s of racing today and plenty to get stuck into, I’ve mentioned before I don’t like backing favourites, it went oh so wrong for me on Thursday last week, but here goes. In Wolverhampton’s 3.10 TAKE YOUR PARTNER, then THRUST CONTROL at 4.45, he had better entries on Saturday which he didn’t take up so it could be a case of good placement by Brian Ellison.

At Plumpton MR MUDDLE deserves a win, he didn’t run as bad as the placing suggests at the Cheltenham Festival, I just hope he isn’t over the top for the season. MENEUR I have opposed in the past but he can’t be the outsider of the field in Plumpton’s 4.20.

Hexham and TOT O’WHISKEY could well be value in the 3.30, he is unbeaten at the course and is fresh when you compare him to the other runners, he would be my nap each-way of the day. Then in the 4.00 I like TEXAS HOLDEM, things didn’t go to plan for us and Orsippus on Thursday at Aintree compensation here I hope.
