Angus McNae

Captain's Blog - 18th May 2011

Goodwood and Kempton will keep us busy today on , indeed the week gets busy for us from now on. I will be back in action on your favourite Racing Channel over the weekend. Before then I have a host of nurseries to visit and plenty of gardening to get through.

Yesterday I wrote about the Derby and the chance that Master of Hounds would have if he ran. After further thought I am convinced that the Ballydoyle boys should run him. I suspect that they will go to the Belmont instead. A deep dirt surface at Belmont may be his undoing and the stallion values and achievements of Belmont winners are, to say the least, poor. Thus surely it is a no brainer, he should take his chance in a poor Derby. You may think I am talking through my pocket, well that is not true because I have not backed him, but the 33/1 that is available with bookmakers and the bigger prices on the exchanges look very tempting.

Our selection yesterday ran well without looking like winning and finished third. This brought to an end a decent run, but I remain in a decent place as far as my punting is concened, indeed I even backed Reading to beat Cardiff last night in the Championship play off. It was a rare winning football bet for me and a welcome one! I will be playing up my winnings in the final by backing Swansea to do Reading. You have been warned!

I hope you have a most enjoyable day.
