Captain's Blog - 9th June 2011

I am not going to get involved in this but whilst the Racing Industry has many high profile issues to deal with at the moment lets not forget that Nicky Henderson will be going before the BHA once again. The disciplinary panel will consider whether Lambourn trainer Henderson breached Rule (C)53 of the Rules of Racing in respect of the finding of dexamethasone in the urine sample taken from Heather Royal, who finished unplaced in a mares' bumper on February 10. I have looked this substance up on Wikipedia, interesting!

I am Newbury bound today to cover the eight race card for . James Willoughby will be my guest and we will also be dealing with the action from Nottingham. I am hoping that the weather forecast is correct and we do not get any significant rain, but I am not normally that lucky. The card at Newbury is a good one and I am looking forward to going through it this morning after giving my daughter her breakfast. In truth I have already looked at the first three races on the card, but will need a couple of hours to get through the rest.

We will also be covering the action at Haydock this evening in what is a very busy period here on Racing UK. It is all hands on deck at the moment and I will be back in the studio on Saturday for Mark Your Card and the afternoon action. The guys behind the scenes are absolutely flat out at the moment and are doing a great job earning their corn so to speak.

Selection wise we are going through a barren spell here on the blog which I know is not good enough, but if everybody out there in punting land is honest with themselves we all go through bad spells. What we need to do is keep swinging for the fences and eventually we will smash the ball out of the park.

Time for me to get ready for Newbury.

All the best.
