Delegator and Overturn are significant non runners from the final day at Royal Ascot. Delegator’s defection, even though suspected, really shakes up the Golden Jubilee Stakes market. Having interviewed Shane Anderson from Sports Radio in Australia, he felt Star Witness wouldn’t really like the rain softened ground so this could be the day for BEWITCHED. She defeated Zoffany on her last start over seven furlongs, she’s already won over course and distance and loves the ground. My only concern with her is the record of fillies in the race is not great. So as an alternative I’m having an each-way saver on Royal Rock, who stays has also won on soft and has improved with each run this season.
At the time of writing there are 25 runners left in the Wokingham Stakes, we all know how good Hoof It promises to be and this time next year he could be running in the Golden Jubilee but I feel the rain could hamper his chances. My selection is Ayr Silver Cup winner COLONEL MAK, as they say the bigger the field the bigger the certainty.
Hopefully I can close this year’s Royal Ascot meeting with a winning forecast, DEGAS ART and GRAND ART reversed in the Queen Alexandra.
The weather looks the same all round the country and I will have the wet weather gear on in Newmarket’s July course betting ring. Very picturesque but not much business goes on, well nothing to the scale of bets of Royal Ascot.
Watch out for Non Runners all round today, Rule 4s aplenty if you are betting early. I have done the race card selections at Newmarket today and they are 1.35 RAASEKHA, 2.05 JOHNNY CASTLE, 2.35 DANCING MAITE, 3.10 ELMAAM, 3.40 APACE, 4.15 PROTECT, 4.50 OUR GAL, 5.25 KERCHAK.
Don’t forget tomorrow is Father’s Day, so hopefully you’ll back a few winners in order to take him out to lunch.
John Fahy has ridden four winners from his 11 rides at Newmarket’s July course
Suited And Booted was the first favourite to win in seven tries in Newmarket’s 2.05
Five of the six winners of Newmarket’s 2.35 carried 9-5 or more to victory
Ryan Clark has had SIX winners from his last 14 rides, in fact his last three rides have won
Five of ten favourites have won Newmarket’s 3.10
Favourites are 0 from 7 in Newmarket’s 3.40
