Angus McNae

Captain's Blog - 19th July 2011

I am in a rush folks as I am due at an Aquatots swimming session at 9.30am with my daughter. I have absolutely no idea why they schedule these things early in the day but that is the way it is I am afraid.

Many thanks to those who replied to my blog yesterday. In it I wrote about the issue of Jockeys dropping their hands and tried to outline that the momentum loss when hands are dropped is minimal and not as relevant as some think. This view is not one that is going to gain me much needed popularity points but it is my view. Just for the record I also stated that jockeys should not drop their hands, but we must always remember that the outcome of hand dropping is completely pace dependant. Pace is the final frontier in race analysis but it looks set to remain so for many a year despite my better efforts.

This aquatots swimming session beckons and I need to pack numerous bags for myself and my daughter. I am set to be the only Dad in the pool amongst a host of Mums who all know each other and who are regulars at this gig. The whole thing could be a bit embarassing but it is all in a good cause after all I do not want my daughter to be a non swimmer just because I couldn't face possible humiliation in a pool of yummy mummies!

Time to crack out my best pair of trunks. Oh and a swim nappy for my daughter, not me!

I apologise for the brevity of the blog today but time is not on my side.
All the best.

Today's Selection

4.15 Yarmouth - Below zero (each way)
