Tanya's Blog - 2nd August 2011

Fantasy football is the hot topic in the office, with an all inclusive league about to be created between all those who work in it. Nick Lightfoot and Andrew Leahy will have great joy in teasing me throughout the season. In the mid-seventies to mid-eighties I knew football inside out, I had every Football League Panini sticker book ever printed and use to get really peeved when I kept getting copies of Bristol City’s badge, Wolves used to be a regular as well. The sad state of affairs is that all the players I knew then are either managers or have been pundits on Sky.

I see Racing & Football Outlook have published a Football League guide today via a 16-page pullout. The Championship will be a fantastic league this season with Brighton, West Ham, Cardiff, Birmingham and Millwall to name a few. Leeds look set to be one of the pacemakers and I wonder if this year they will actually kick on rather than implode. That is certainly my reading material for the day, with the Racing Post pull-out to come for the Premier League there is a lot to absorb before taking on the boys in the office at their own game.

Meanwhile in racing, Catterick, Bath, Southwell, Ffos Las and Roscommon hold fort today. Ryan Moore has received news much better than first thought with a belief he could only be out of action for 12 weeks.

CODE CRACKER is in to 6-5 at the time of writing for Sir Mark Prescott at the time of writing, he is 2-1 in the betting synopsis but come post time it could be more like 4-5. With the trainer in hotter form than the weather, it may be worth siding with.

Paul Hanagan will be keen to take the lead again in the Jockeys’ Championship and winners could come courtesy of RHYTON in Catterick’s 2.30 and BLOWN IT in the 4.00.

I’m off now to do my day job but will be back on Thursday with thoughts on football, PGA Tour Golf and of course, racing.

POINTERS
