    Captain's Blog - 14th September 2011

Snow Hill won for us at 3/1 yesterday to help keep the home fores burning for a little longer and to give us some ammunition going into what is a busy day on . We will be covering all the action from Sandown, Beverley and Kempton. I will be based in the studio with Dave Nevison covering the eight races from Beverley. Be sure to join us from 1.30pm.

    Hidden Keel
Yesterday I put up the first of ten horses to follow for the forthcoming jumps season. Today I have a couple more to add to the list. Firstly, I would like to include the Charlie Longsden trained Hidden Keel. This horse was impressive in a couple of chase wins at Exeter and although beaten a long way by Medermit in the Scilly Isles Novices chase at Sandown he shaped well for a long way and is much better than the actual result. He is a bold and quick jumper who on his final start last season easily beat Rougham who had won a class three Novices chase at Ascot earlier in the season. Hidden Keel is a bright prospect who has plenty of speed and may well not want to go any further than two and a half miles, I even think he may be worth a go at two miles in decent company. Ultimately he may make into a horse for the Ryanair chase at Cheltenham. That is horse number two in the list - Hidden Keel.

    Crack Away Jack
Horse number three is Crack Away Jack. He had a disastrous season in 2010 which culminated in him being pulled up at Sandown behind Punchestowns. He has moved to Paul Nicholls now and I understand he has had a wind operation. This may well turn his fortunes around and it would be no surprise if he returned to his 2009 form which saw him finish fourth in the Champion Hurdle behind Punjabi. It is possible that he will never recapture his previous form but he is only seven years old and has raced just 15 times under rules so on balance now under the care of the Champion trainer should pay to follow this season where I am sure he will be campaigned over fences. That is horse number three - Crack Away Jack.

So the list so far is.

    1. Keys
    2. Hidden Keel
    3. Crack Away Jack

More to follow tomorrow and the final 10 will be complete on Saturday.

    All the best.
