Angus McNae

Captain's Blog - 1st October 2011

I will be hitting the road shortly. My destination is Newmarket where I will be your presenter for the day. Eddie Freemantle will be my guest and I am very much looking forward to fronting our coverage on a big Saturday.

The action at Newmarket is top class and aside from HQ we will be at Redcar for their biggest day of the year and also in France for day one of the Arc meeting from Longchamp. What a day it promises to be. Join us on Mark Your Card from 12.30.

Our selection yesterday obliged at 9/2 at Ascot in the shape of Sirrius Prospect which gives us some units to play with over the weekend. In truth with so much Racing and indeed sport over the next couple of days those units could be heading straight back where they came from.

Once my stint at Newmarket is complete I will be heading home as quickly as possible to watch the Superleague play off between Saint Helens and Wigan. I will have to watch it delayed so will therefore be driving home without using the car radio as I want to watch the game as live and do not want to know the score. Knowing my own ability to be absent minded I will probably turn the radio on without thinking and spoil my evening.

Apparently the bagpipes have been banned in New Zealand at the Rugby World cup. I have no idea what the problem is with them but clearly the New Zealand authorities find them a tad annoying. I admit they can grate a little but come on at a Rugby match surely they serve to enhance the atmosphere. Perhaps they should also ban the England fans from singing swing low sweet chariot to even up the methods of support in this mornings England vs Scotland clash!

My trip to Newmarket should take around about an hour and twenty minutes so I had better get on the road so that I can get there nice and early and get some work done. Have an enjoyable sporting weekend.

Today's Selections

3.35 Newmarket - Art History (each way 6/1)

Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe - Danedream (each way 20/1 Bluesq)
