Tanya's Blog - 13th October 2011 The M23 southbound was closed earlier this morning and only one lane was open at around 10.30am which doesn’t help those horses being hauled to Brighton today. CHEYLESMORE is incredibly popular on the exchanges at the time of writing, I don’t know too much about the horse but I see the Racing Post synopsis says it ran poor last time out. A front-runner, supporters will be hoping he freewheels down the camber at Brighton and has enough deficit to hold on in the closing stages. He has won at the course twice from four starts! ATHWAAB is another positive on the exchanges, a rare runner for Noel Chance at Brighton, he’ll enjoy the sea air. He is another course and distance winner and in a race full of horses who have fallen out of the habit of winning of late, he could reward his supporters, I wouldn’t put you off. More emails have landed in my inbox regarding the whip. All I’ll say is, why it is felt OK to stage 'hands and heels' races for inexperienced jockeys, yet the whip is deemed essential for senior riders? A popular question. As for the flag incident at Wetherby, the less said and debated about that now the better, but a yellow flag is to stop the race rather than argue the fact, that’s what all the riders should have done. As alway,s everything is easy with hindsight. The best and most positive news of the day for me is the declaration of Wigmore Hall in the Champion Stakes at Ascot on Saturday, a hero horse of mine, I would love to see him win.
POINTERS Colin Tizzard has had four winners and two seconds from his last ten runners Tim Vaughan has had five winners, a second and two thirds from his last 13 runners Chris Wall has had three winners from his last six runners John Gosden has a 50% strike rate at Brighton Timmy Murphy has had four winners from his last nine rides Paul Moloney has had seven winners from his last eight rides Six of the last eight winners of Uttoxeter’s 2.40 have been either first or second favourites
