Angus McNae

Captain's Blog - 19th October 2011

I have been called in at the 11th hour to present the coverage from Kempton tonight and am looking forward to spending an interesting evening with Dave Yates. We will be looking back at Champions Day in some detail and your thoughts on the day or indeed any other topic will be very welcome. We could also do with some winners at Kempton this evening and your thoughts on the card would be good as well. As usual I suspect that horses who like to race prominently will be the ones to prevail this evening so get busy folks and draw a few pace maps and let us know what you come up with.

My cycling project went reasonably well yesterday although it was pretty cold coming home in the evening and at rush hour the traffic is just mad. On two occasions I was nearly mown down by a motorist rushing home and not really paying attention to the road. I do not really blame them though as I am a motorist as well and sometimes I find cyclists to be a real nuisance. The main thing was that I made it home in one piece and am ready to do battle once again on Friday when I plan to use pedal power again.

There is some excellent action on today. Not only do we have action from Kempton Park this evening we also bring you the racing from Newmarket which stages an interesting card with some decent types for the future on show. Indeed the card is dominated by two-year-olds and is always an informative one. We are on air at 1pm so be sure to join us then.

No bike for me today as it will be 10pm this evening before I get out of the studio so the car will have to be the chosen mode of transport for me. I look forward to hearing from you all this evening and remember you can mail the show anytime today. You do not have to wait for the show to start.

All the best.
