Tanya's Blog - 25th October 2011 The whip issue has caused resentment in seismic proportions and a few more emails have content which include disillusionment from punters with the sport. Racing politics have never incited such interaction until now. Why on earth the rules needed to be changed in the first place is beyond me. The majority of those in charge seem to have convinced themselves they did need to change and now the whole matter has actually brought public perception to the table. I have received many emails and opinions on how to resolve the matter and it is sad the sport is in limbo while the likes of Frankel’s brother appears at Yarmouth today with less than a murmur and there’s a fantastic Charlie Hall Chase in prospect at the weekend. Diamond Harry, Time For Rupert and my fancy Nacarat. Last weekend was brilliant, thanks for asking, the finalists for the Betting Shop Manager of the Year were superb, narrowing 24 down to eight is going to be hard but fun, late next week. The Racing Post Trophy added all new betting dynamics to the ring, all of us were just spectators in a war between the bookmakers, yet the betting percentage was astonishing. Best prices on course were 5-4, 10-3, 9, 9, 20 adding up to 98! And in the morning did you notice the pricewise races were 92, 97, 101, 102 and 111! Sunday and Wembley, awesome, NFL is just the best, even more so when you watch it live. They sure know how to put on a show and the crowd seemed to be partisan to the away side the Chicago Bears. The game itself was riddled with basic errors which added to the excitement. What a shame it wasn’t a sell out, 76,000 came to cheer and roar the Bears. Jay Cutler did them proud with a 24-18 win. I think I saw every team’s replica shirt. There is considerable support queuing up to back ALFIE SPINNER at the time of writing. Last season he did really well in some handicap hurdles and it’s intriguing he now takes to the bigger obstacles. I want to take Red Harbour on and Alfie Spinner looks the ideal candidate. In the earlier races at Chepstow Prospect Wells and Grandioso are very well supported although Daymar Bay is only half the price he is in the Racing Post so that will be a good battle come post time. It seems a good time to support ORPSIE BOY again; a very facile winner over course and distance in June. Other than being drawn badly over seven at Chester which you can discount, he has been messing about over six furlongs and back at seven he can be a big runner.
POINTERS Charlie Longsdon has had an amazing season to date and his current run of form means he has had six winners from his last 13 runners Mahmood Al Zarooni and Ahmed Ajtebi have teamed up for four winners from their last six runners Paul Moloney has had seven winners and three seconds from his last 17 rides Richard Johnson has had six winners and four seconds from his last 12 rides Four of the last five favourites have won Catterick’s 2.20 Sir Michael Stoute has had four winners from his last six runners in Yarmouth’s 1.30 Ryan Moore has been the benefactor in Yarmouth’s 1.30 with three winners from his last five rides
