Tanya's Blog - 26th November 2011
Apologies for the delay in posting, busy is an understatement, but it’s all been in a good way. At this point I’m in a press room full to capacity. John McCririck studiously is writing all his stats on relevant racecards. The Cornish pasties are on the go behind the catering counter but as yet not many takers. Luke Harvey comes over asking for the Newbury non-runners. John Hunt is discussing his recent visit to Upton Park. While the Racing Post journalists busily type aware their blogs. There is a plethora of photographers on the press room balcony on the fifth floor putting the world to rights and it’s great to see them as it shows the magnitude of Hennessy day.
Bookmaker Andy Smith reported good money in the betting ring yesterday and although he lost he will be rolling up his sleeves and getting stuck in today.
MINELLA THEATRE at Newbury could well win the mover of the day competition. 5-1 overnight it collapse to 7-2 with Ladbrokes by 8.30am and even though Coral were 9-2 that also came under pressure. He runs in Newcastle’s 3.30.
In the Hennessy itself I find it hard to split WAYWARD PRINCE and Sarando and have gone for the former because of his stamina, his trainers recent form and Dougie Costello has ridden him six times for five wins and a second. Although I will be mixing the pair in a forecast with Planet Of Sound.
In the Stan James Fighting Fifth like the bookmakers I want to be against Binocular. Hills and Coral went 11-10 while the magic sign were only 4-6!
EMPIRE LEVANT was an easy winner at Newbury on Thursday and I take him to follow up in the 2.05 even though pricewise has gone for Titan De Sarti.
First leg of the Scoop6 is Newbury’s 1.30 and the backed horses are Wyck Hill and Master Fiddle.
