Captain's Blog - 7th December 2011 Mottley Crew was narrowly beaten for us here on the blog yesterday, but at 9/2 there was no damage done. I think he remains a horse to be interested in when he races at Southwell particularly over 6 furlongs. It is all weather action that will be the focus of my attention again today as I am Presenting all the action from Kempton with Eddie Freemantle providing the expert analysis. We have an eight race card to keep us busy and hopefully you will get in touch via the usual address - [email protected]. Do join us from 3.30pm. Before making my way to the studio I have a number of projects to complete, not least the Chimney Sweep is rocking up to sweep the chimney for us so that we can safely have a real fire over Christmas. In essence he shoves a brush with a long handle up the chimney, wriggles it around, then hoovers up any mess and walks away with £60 cash. It takes him about ten minutes and he gets a free cup of tea to boot. He is a nice little chap if a bit grubby and is clearly onto a winner with this Chimney sweeping lark. At the same time he is supposed to be here we are also expecting a grocery delivery from Tesco. No doubt they will both rock up at the same time. Once the Chimney is clean and the fridge full I will be able to head to the office. I had some time yesterday to have a quick look at the King George ante post market and have backed Master Minded each way at 11/2. I think he represents decent value. For a start Kauto Star may not run which in itself makes the double M a 7/2 shot. Secondly three miles at Kempton should be right up his street, playing to the strengths of his quick jumping and high cruising speed. Some may say that he is not value because he has never proved that he stays three miles and his stamina has to be an issue, but equally there is a chance that he will improve for it and lets face it three miles at Kempton is not that arduous. Of course Long Run is a worthy favourite but he is inclined to make jumping errors and with that worry in the back of my mind I could not back him. With the possibility that Kauto may not run and Long Run may blunder his chances away a reasonable each way wager on Master Minded is the advice. Have a good day folks
Today's Selection Ante post King George - Master Minded (each way 11/2 Sportingbet) 2.40 Lingfield - Sand Skier (each way 8/1 Paddy Power)
