Tanya's Blog - 12th December 2011

Yesterday was spent dealing with the complexities of Christmas and ticking off the checklist. How Betting Shop Managers and Stable Staff, Jockeys and Trainers get time to deal with the Festive season it is one of the great mysteries. At least there is a token gesture couple days off before December 25? Or is there, I know there is greyhound racing on Christmas Eve. I remember when I use to stand up at Canterbury Greyhounds on that day, no one use to turn up, everyone was busy with the Christmas preparations. So why can’t the day be left blank?!

Last night’s NFL was tremendous and painful to watch, I thought my favourite team the New Orleans Saints were going to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory in the dying seconds. A lucky escape and not encouraging for their Superbowl chances especially if you watched the following match when the favourites for the big one in February, the Green Bay Packers, never, ever had to come out of first gear. Aaron Rodgers has to be one of the best quarterbacks I’ve ever seen in regards of calmness and is aura of control. It also advertised how huge the deficit is between the AFC and the NFC. How Oakland have won seven games this season is a miracle!!!!

My fantasy football team got a boost this weekend thanks to goals from Rooney and Van Persie but Spurs let me down big time yesterday. All on to Man City tonight, I have just transferred Torres out of my team watch for him to play now and get at least one goal!!! I’m out of form at present and fate works in very cruel ways.

Commiserations to both Robert Thornton and Keith Mercer who were both injured in falls this weekend, horrid luck for the pair of them, wishing them both a speedy recovery.

This afternoon is the William Hill King George Lunch and I get to mix with the connections, I do hope Sheena West is there as I’d love to hear all about the fairytale that is Golan Way. I will let you know all the details of the quotes and attendees in tomorrow’s blog.

It’s a quiet day for racing today with Fakenham and Wolverhampton keeping the betting shops round the country ticking over. Odds-on favourites dominate the first two races at Fakenham but it’s the third and fourth race which have sparked me to dabble in the forecast markets.

Fakenham’s 2.00 and The Magic Bishop, Harouet and Investment Affair who will be combined small, by yours truly. It’s a great handicap chase, one the punters love. Then in the 2.30 just a simple reverse forecast on TRIBAL DANCE and DOT’S DELIGHT.

Pointers

Tim Vaughan has had five winners from his last 12 Fakenham runners

This season when Tim Vaughan and Richard Johnson have teamed up they have shown a massive level stake profit of over £40

Evan Williams has had six winners from his last 20 Fakenham runners

Jockey Jack Quinlan has a 36% strike rate at Fakenham

Jonjo O’Neill and A P McCoy team up for a 40% strike rate at Fakenham
