Captain's Blog - Tuesday 27th March 2012

Red Somerset went in for us at Lingfield yesterday ensuring a reasonable start to the week and negated some of the damage that we did on Saturday. With a little bit of luck we can maintain the momentum this week and finish the month off in style. Nothing is guaranteed in this game as I am sure you know.

Bob Baffert the legendary American trainer is comfortable in a Dubai hospital after suffering a heart attack yesterday morning. Baffert is one of the greats when it comes to training racehorses and was in Dubai to try and win the Dubai World Cup for a third time having saddled Captain Steve and Silver Charm to win in 2001 and 1998. His achievements in the States are far too long to list here, but lets hope he recovers quickly and it would be a marvellous tonic for him if his horse Game on Dude could land the big race on Saturday night. I would like to wish Bob Baffert all the best from everyone who reads this blog, because this great game of ours is a better gane with Bob Baffert a part of it.

We are entering a time of year when sports lovers are spoilt for choice and one of the events they will be able to feast on is the Masters from Augusta. Tiger Woods would appear to be timing his challenge to perfevtion having won the Arnold Palmer Invitational on Sundat. Stories of Tigers demise are premature in my opinion and whilst he may never get back to his brilliant best, he can still win Majors whilst playing just a she is now. In fact he has been playing well for a while now and that win on Sunday will have given him plenty of confidence going forward to Augusta, where incidentally he has already played a round in preparation for the Masters, the rest of the Masters field should be worried because Tiger is back!

I am at home today looking after my daughter but will return to the fray on Wednesday evening where Kempton will be the focus of my attention and James Willoughby will be my guest. You can get your e-mails into the studio now and James and I will be delighted to deal with them tomorrow night.

Time for me to sign off for today.

All the best.
