Tanya's Blog - Wednesday 20th June 2012

What a privilege, what a joy to behold. I felt inspired sat in the stand at the Oval yesterday. I never thought I’d see Chris Gayle live. What a genius with the bat he is, in just 11 balls he scored four sixes and although the West Indies were treated contemptuously in the end by England, the sight of Gayle did it for me. He had been one of the main draw cards throughout the IPL and scored double the amount of sixes than anyone else. Not only that, but Dwayne Bravo brought his A-game and there was a glimmer of IPL form from Kieron Pollard.

I shudder with excitement in the knowledge that the Aussies are on these shores, no not those involved with Black Caviar and her fan club, but those who in ten day’s time will be playing England in a one-day International series. I’m almost tempted to go to Grace Road on Thursday for their warm-up game against Leicestershire.

Bet you thought I was going to gush about Frankel, well there are enough people to do that without me adding to them and haven’t all the superlatives been used up? Gutted with Medicean Man, fourth was a body blow to my each-way plans and it’s the only race which let me down in the placepot!!!

I haven’t really yet had a chance to digest all what went on yesterday, with the cricket then the football and so many distractions don’t give you the chance to watch the races over and over again for the ones to be on next time. Last night around 9pm I did note that Chachamaidee and Captain Bertie were proving to be very popular on Oddschecker. After hitting the crossbar throughout the day on Tuesday there is a massive reluctance in this quarter to play at all, instead keeping my head down and grafting in the office seems the best option.

Although not an official tip I will be on Wigmore Hall as he should at least get a place and never has there been a better opportunity to make an impact in a Group One over here!

Still after the foxes had devoured most of the greenery on my tomato plants, they are showing resilience and bearing fruit, that’s the best result of the day if not the week. Little things, eh?
