Captain's Blog - Wednesday 4th July 2012

There is so much sport on the TV at the moment it is hard to know which button to press on the remote control. For many today is all about Andy Murray and his quest for a first Grand Slam. For me though it is all about State of Origin this morning and this evening. Queensland are favourites to win another Origin series in the cauldron that is the Suncorp stadium, but this year may not be as easy as the pre game odds suggest. Quuensland are disrupted with injuries and the loss of Billy Slater is a huge blow for them, but at their own venue I would take Queensland to just edge it.

As far as this evening is concerned I will be in the Studio to cover all the action from Kempton Park and Eddie Freemantle will be my guest. Please tune in because after the first race I will be speaking to Simon Crisford about all thingd Godolphin. Hopefully it will be an enlightening chat.

Yesterday our selection was a non runner. Today I am keen on the chances of Ibtahaj in the 9.05 at Kempton. I was really impressed with this horse a week ago at Kempton where he seemed to relish the surface and sprinted clear of his rivals for an impressive success. Under Frankie Dettori I think we are in for more of the same tonight and although he will be a restrictive price I think he will win.

If you have any questions or thoughts please do mail the show this evening at the usual address – [email protected]. We look forward to hearing from you.

That’s it today from me. Have a good one

All the best
