Tanya's Blog - Saturday 1st September 2012 What a pleasant view the Oval was last night. It was cracking to see a viking in the Peter May South Stand, wearing a Flash Gordon T-shirt. You don’t get that at Lords. The atmosphere was electric at Surrey’s home ground and with the floodlights it’s tremendous. I thought that somewhere either the Pink Panther or Scooby Doo would pop up trying to catch the next six lofted off Eoin Morgan’s bat! At 7pm last night Mijhaar’s price was shortening on the exchanges and more so on Oddschecker. Add to that Tominator contracting in price from 10-1 to 7-1 it was a complete surprise to discover neither tipped up anywhere especially considering how unlucky Mijhaar was in the John Smith’s Cup. I chatted to Graham Lee yesterday not long after his win on Tom Sawyer at Sandown. He is at Chester this afternoon and he has a great strike rate at present. Let’s hope Hawkeyethenoo is allowed to take his chance at Haydock next week as it would be lovely to see him pick up some more prize money in a Group 1. His best chance could well be Lexi’s Hero in Chester’s 4.20. But my bet of the day at Haydock is owned, like Lexi’s Hero, by Marwan Koukash, and runs in the 2.30. It's Area Fifty One. Fifth in the Ebor last Saturday a repeat could get him close. In the same race Scrapper Smith is a big price at 20-1 as he loves the ground and the extra furlong can’t do him any harm, worth a sneaky each-way interest. Back at Sandown I fancy it being a great day for Richard Hughes. I’m tempted to do his rides through the card in an accumulator. Kyleakin Lass has the edge at the weights with favourite Face The Problem on a line through Steps. Next up Master Of War then Dank, and then you’re laughing. Outside chance on Miblish in the 4.00, and next up 5/4 favourite Law Enforcement – if only life was that easy.
Today's Selection: 2.15 Sandown Kyleakin Lass 2.30 Chester Area Fifty One
