Captain's Blog - Thursday 13th September

I have always maintained that horses with form on the all-weather or with previous at Doncaster are the ones to look out for. With that in mind let's have a look at the winners at Town Moor yesterday that fit the template.

Sole Power - Started his career winning on the Polytrack at Dundalk. He then won the Nunthorpe at York, which is another track with plenty of sand in it.

Patriotic - A four times winner at Wolverhampton and also a winner on the fibresand at Southwell. He had never won on the turf until yesterday.

Proud Chieftan - A winner on the Polytrack at Kempton, but to be fair he also has turf form at a number of tracks.

Born to Surprise - has won twice in his career both wins at Doncaster.

Even Stevens - Has a record of seven wins from eleven runs on the all weather! His only turf win in sixteen starts came yesterday at Doncaster. He has also finished second at this track. He was 20/1 yesterday!

Now I know that you will think this does not add up to a hill of beans, but bear with me on this one. I will continue to document the previous all-weather records and course records of this week's winners at the track and we will see where we stand at the end of the week. Incidentally, there is also some compelling evidence that horses with good form at York or Ascot also tend to run well at Doncaster. I know I am boring you now, so enough of this for today.

It is all well and good putting together the above analysis but it only tells us what has happened in the past. Trying to apply it to see what will happen today is a whole lot more difficult, but with today's selections I am going to have a go.

Firstly I am going each way with Gallipot in the Park Hill Stakes. She has won her last two on the all-weather and is very backable at around 14/1.

I am also going to take the two times Tapeta winner Gamilati to bounce back to form in the Sceptre Stakes at 1.50. She should also be backed each way at around 6/1.
