    Tanya's Blog - Tuesday 30th October

I thought Tominator was impressive at Bangor yesterday. You can scrutinise things too closely and the criticism that he was novicey was harsh. He was far superior and he had to do everything himself; job done and roll on the next examination.

The judging for Betting Shop Manager went well and I have jotted down plenty of notes. That aside, the things that caught my eye were Singersongwriter at Donny on the Friday and in the Racing Post Trophy, obviously the winner Kingsbarns, the second Van De Neer and First Cornerstone, who appears very much like the wonderful now-retired Famous Name. Over jumps For Non Stop was awesome at Aintree and it is hard at this point to see who can beat him at Cheltenham if he is directed at the BetVictor Gold Cup.

Nick Scholfield and Jeremy Scott have proved to be a very successful partnership and hopefully I can reap rewards by following the pair, who have teamed up for eight wins from their last 33 hurdle runners with Quaddick Lake. The three runs so far have been extremely consistent so a place at least should be in the offering.

Another good trainer/jockey team is Ed Dunlop and Graham Lee, and Lee seems to be riding winners in abundance. The pair have The Tiger at Catterick, who I take to defy the penalty. I see the Racing UK predictor has him down to run a good race, too.

Other than Betting Shop Manager judging I went to Wembley on Sunday to watch the NFL match, which was one-sided. Tom Brady and the New England Patriots turned the St Louis Rams into lambs. This despite the fact that Rams coach Jeff Fisher tried a couple of party tricks, which didn’t come off as you can tell by the 45-7 score line. It was an example of how the Patriots are expected to play every week but they just seem to go AWOL. On that performance they ought to be Superbowl-bound as even a few key injuries didn’t effect them. The trouble is they are vulnerable when opposing sides throw deep and St Louis weren’t able to exploit this enough. Other more experienced sides will, however, but even so I expect to see them in the playoffs.

    Today's tips:

    3.20 Catterick The Tiger
