Tanya's Blog - Wednesday 7th November

Fox Appeal repaid my faith in bucket loads at Kempton! Hope you have been reading my blog, especially the one giving a heads up to his performance and the probable improvement to come written on 20 October!  Our Vinnie was another eyecatcher, who has since won and the pair could probably go on to win again.

Having watched the weekend’s racing there is a couple that I would like to be on next time and you should put in your 'NagMe' accounts. Street Entertainer came with a strong run to grab a discreet fifth at Ascot in a competitive handicap hurdle.  He does have an entry in the Elite Hurdle at Wincanton, but taking on Zarkandar may be a bit of a stretch, however another handicap could be ideal.

The other horse is Cannington Brook, who ran in the melee known as the United House Gold Cup Handicap Chase. He was travelling well and coming into the race when very badly hampered three out. Providing he is none the worse and hasn’t incurred any nicks or small injuries then he is one to keep on your side.

Congratulations to La Estrella at Southwell, who on Tuesday won his thirteen consecutive wins at the course. It is British record and an awesome effort, which made my day.

Many are in raptures over Cue Card, to the extent that prices for him in big upcoming events have been slashed due to his win at Exeter yesterday.  Yet trying to put the handbrake on the superlatives, we must remember he was odds-on, so was expected to win. Menorah was back to his antics of finding jumping problematic and the remainder of the field wouldn’t be expected to even tackle the same quality of Cue Card. So for now, yes he did jump exceptionally well and at speed but all he did was confirm what we already knew about him, simply that he is talented.  Measure Cue Card’s performance with that of For Non Stop at Aintree or Silviniaco Conti at Wetherby and then perhaps take stock.

Jim Crowley and Ralph Beckett are going for a hat-trick of wins in Nottingham’s 2.10pm and I am going to side with them and Motion Lass. She ran a solid race on debut at Leicester and can build on that effort.

Hazy Tom runs in Warwick’s 2.20 and I’m not going to tip him. Instead I will be keeping a close eye on him, hoping he graces us with his presence and the ability I know he possesses!
