Captain's Blog - Thursday 22nd November

A 5/4 winner yesterday has kept the home fires burning for another day. I will be trying to keep up the good work today at Kempton because, with all this rain around, it is probably best to steer clear of the turf for the time being. It also makes sense to have a selection at Kempton as I will be covering the meeting from the studio later today.

In the 6.40 I like Estedaama. This horse is on a roll after wins at Folkestone, York and Lingfield. I thought he was particularly impressive last time up at Lingfield, but as ever visual impressions are nothing without the rock solid evidence of the clock and in this case Estedaama posted a big speed figure and he remains ahead of the handicapper. He is a fierce commodity at this level in that he is a strong stayer with a good turn of foot and I am confident he will run well tonight.

6.40 Kempton - Estedaama (7/4 Stan James)

I do not often put up horses to follow here on the blog, but I would suggest you put this one in your Nag Me stable which of course you can find on the website. The horse is called Absolutely So who won his maiden yesterday and did so in decent fashion. He pulled hard early on, but despite using up more petrol than ideal early on, he still had enough in the tank to power clear close home. Physically he is the stamp of a sprinter and I can see him making up into a useful prospect at five and six furlongs next season. He is trained by Andrew Balding who has done well with sprinters before and this horse is sure to be well placed next season.
