Shropshire is My Each-Way Bullet for Town Moor

Three selections yesterday and two complete duds followed by an each-way third at 11-2 made it a moderate day’s work. Friday is another day though and the card at Doncaster is an excellent one.

Today I am just going to fire one each-way bullet and it comes in the form of Shropshire in the 4.25 contest.

This horse has been in good form and although beaten by six and a half lengths in the Stewards’ Cup he will be much more at home on easy ground at Doncaster.

His second place in the Wokingham Stakes at Royal Ascot behind York Glory told us that he can cut it in top handicaps and this is a track he really goes well at.

His second here in April behind Move In Time was a very good effort and even though he is higher in the weights now he is in a slightly easier contest today and could make his class tell.

Robert Winston, who goes under the radar these days, can be described as a quietly efficient jockey and if Shropshire is good enough then he certainly is.

The five-year-old is a solid 7-1 shot with a number of firms and should be backed each-way with some confidence.

I am making my way to Sandown today to cover the action from there for this afternoon. Eddie Freemantle will join me and it should be an interesting afternoon with some nice-looking maiden races on the card. Join us from 1.30 and don't forget the action at Bangor as well this afternoon which will also be live on the channel.

Angus's Friday tip:

4.25 Doncaster: Shropshire each-way at 7-1 with Bet Victor
