Long live the Sprint King at Goodwood
It will be hard to emulate yesterday here on the blog. Kings Fete, Take Cover and Final Reckoning were three tasty winners on a day when the bookmakers were pounded at almost every turn. Let's not allow the layers back off the canvas on Saturday and I'm looking for the knock-out.
Dandy Nicholls has endured a good few seasons in the wilderness since he inherited the title of Sprint King. He has, however, had something of a renaissance this year and the good fortune can continue today with Kimberella in the Qatar Stewards' Cup. He is a 14/1 shot with Bet Victor and should be backed with confidence.

He is drawn high in stall 21 which would not be my chosen stall, to be frank I would rather be closer to the far side. Nonetheless this horse looks to have plenty in hand of the handicapper and despite what may be an unfavourable draw I think he will win. Sometimes you just have to ignore the draw and back the best horse in the race, which he is.
His win in the Skybet Dash at York last time out was really impressive. He tanked through the race, on the bridle for most of it before decisively seeing off his rivals with a smart change of gear. After that performance he is rated as 2lbs well in and given that I believe he could be a Group horse I think he may well have plenty more than 2lbs in hand.
Dandy Nicholls may get some confidence for Kimbrella's Stewards' Cup bid in the consolation race that starts the card at 2.00pm. He saddles an old pal of mine in Barnet Fair. I have tipped him in this race for the last two years and he has not let me down, winning in 2014 and finishing second last year.
He is now 6lb lower than last year and at his favourite track he looks set to run another big race. In 2014 and 2015 he came into this race in no sort of form, but stepped up to the plate over a track and trip that suit him. He needs a patient ride, which Franny Norton should be able to execute perfectly, and such a ride will warm him up nicely for Kimbrella.
Like Kimbrella Barnet Fair is a 12/1 chance and will hopefully get us off to a winning start to the final day of Glorious Goodwood.
Angus McNae's Saturday tips:
2.00 Goodwood: Barnet Fair at 12/1 generally available
3.45 Goodwood: Kimbrella at 14/1
