A Look Ahead to Some Incredible National Hunt Racing

We can now look ahead to some incredible upcoming racing, as anticipation continues to build. Fans are already looking to bet on Grand National online, with the event having been cancelled last year. It is again set to take place in April and will as always provide one of the greatest sporting events of the year. However, for most racing fans, the anticipation is all about the Cheltenham festival. It is now just a few weeks away, so here we cover two horse’s worth following and should take all the beating.

The first horse is Shishkin in the Arkle chase on the opening day of the festival. He is a best priced even money favourite for the race but has been drifting recently, following the impressive performance of Energumene, who has shortened into a best price of 11/4 second favourite. Shishkin is trained by Nicky Henderson and will bring in a record of seven wins from his eight starts, with his only defeat coming when falling on his first start over hurdles. Since then, he has been flawless, that has included winning the Supreme Novices hurdle at the 2020 Cheltenham festival.

Shishkin has also made three starts over fences, winning by an aggregate of 44 ½ lengths and looks to be the next potential star of national hunt racing. It now really sets up for a fascinating clash at the festival, but you would have to side with Shishkin at present, as he could just be a star.

The second horse is Envoi Allen, who is many people’s idea of the banker of the meeting and can now be supported at a best price of 5/6. This is likely to shorten and he also brings in an unbeaten record of 11 wins from his 11 starts under rules. This also includes consecutive victories at the Cheltenham festival. Firstly, coming in the Champion bumper back in 2019, before he followed up very impressively in the Ballymore last season.

Envoi Allen has returned this season and been faultless over fences, that has seen him win all three starts very impressively. He is now expected to continue this in the Marsh at the upcoming festival and appears the banker for most.
