Park Hill Stakes 2026: result

Waardah wore a hood for the first time and it made all the difference at Doncaster.

Waardah, trained by Owen Burrows and ridden by Callum Rodriguez, landed the Betfred Park Hill Stakes at odds of 5/2. The win adds another Group 2 to a record that already includes last season’s Lillie Langtry Stakes at Goodwood.

How the race was run

Sir Mark Prescott’s Consent made a bold bid from the front. First-time headgear appeared to settle Waardah, though, who travelled more tractably than in recent starts and wore her rival down inside the final furlong. She pulled a length and three-quarters clear of the staying-on Danielle in second.

A hood works by dulling a horse’s peripheral vision and hearing. It is often fitted to fillies who race too freely or lose focus in a big field, exactly the profile Burrows appeared to be addressing here.

The summer heatwave had disrupted Waardah’s campaign. This was only her second start of the season, after finishing third in the Lillie Langtry last month, a race she prefers with some cut in the ground.

No stewards’ enquiry followed the race. Waardah came home unscathed from a test that has proved too much for plenty of fillies at this trip.

What’s next

Burrows is already eyeing a possible Group 1 double for the autumn. The Prix de Royallieu on Arc weekend at ParisLongchamp and Champions Day at Ascot are both on his radar.
