This Grade 2 promises to be an informative test for juvenile hurdlers with Festival ambitions, with 16 entered for the two-mile contest on the New Course.

Chartwell Jock heads into the race with solid credentials and looks one of the more established names in the line-up, while Feel Gut and Hardy Stuff add further depth to a competitive middle tier of contenders. La Luna Artista brings an intriguing profile and could prove a dark horse if handling the unique demands of Cheltenham.

Irish interest is strong. Macktoad, Manlaga, Minella Yoga and Miss Des Boullats all represent yards with fine records in juvenile hurdles, and any market support for them in the days leading up to the race will be significant. Vivre Le Reve and Tenter Le Tout also hint at French-bred flair, adding further international spice to the contest.

Maestro Conti and Misterdoc are names to note for those following progressive types, while Lord Byron, One Horse Town, Senator and Sonic Pioneer complete a field that offers depth rather than an obvious standout at this stage.

Cheltenham’s undulations and stiff finish regularly expose any weakness in stamina or technique, and this trial often provides a reliable pointer towards the Triumph Hurdle itself. With a full field, varied profiles and several unexposed juveniles, this year’s renewal looks set to deliver both a searching test and valuable Festival clues.
