Kevin Manning settled the son of Teofilo in third behind the pace set by Ralston Road and Cap O'Rushes and moved up to challenge for the lead inside the final two furlongs.

With Ruler Of The World and Libertarian failing to get in a blow from the rear it was left to Epsom third Galileo Rock to put in the strongest challenge, but Trading Leather (6-1) ran on strongly and passed the post the commanding winner by a length and three-quarters.

Aidan O'Brien's second string Festive Cheer was hampered trying to make his run on the inside and made up plenty of ground late on to snatch third spot when switched outside, a further length and three-quarters away.

Ruler Of The World was unsurprisingly a warm order following his impressive Epsom display, sent off a 4-5 favourite to give O'Brien an 11th Irish Derby victory, but he was being ridden along towards the rear of the field rounding the home turn and while he made up some ground in the straight, he never looked like landing a significant blow.

The Elaine Burke-trained Libertarian, purchased by Godolphin since his excellent Epsom effort, ran even more disappointingly, with William Buick eventually easing down and beating only one home. Last of all was Patrick Prendergast's Sugar Boy, another horse who has changed ownership this week.
